Cure53 · March 2019
IVPN's first and only no-logs audit. IVPN says it will not commission further no-logs audits and relies on yearly security audits instead.[4]
Cure53 · February 2023
Audit of the VPN gateway servers and their operating system: one medium, six low and one informational finding, all fixed. This is IVPN's latest published audit of its VPN infrastructure.[5]
Cure53 · March 2024
Audit of the customer website, its API and web infrastructure: two low-severity vulnerabilities, both fixed, and two informational issues.[6]
Notable incidents and changes
2023
IVPN removed port forwarding, citing large-scale abuse, more law-enforcement inquiries and strained data-center relationships. Reserved ports were disabled on September 30, 2023.[7]
August 2026
An attacker used an actively exploited BTCPay Server vulnerability to take about 0.62 BTC of IVPN's own operating funds from its Lightning payment node. IVPN says customer data, accounts and the VPN service were not affected.[8]
Protocols
WireGuard (quantum-resistant by default in the apps), OpenVPN and IPSec, with multi-hop across jurisdictions, V2Ray obfuscation on all platforms and obfs4 for OpenVPN on desktop.[1]
